Dancing with
the mineral pulse
Dance Improvisation Workshop with Moira Anouk
Part of the workshop series Precarious Pleasures
The participants use movement and voice to explore geological processes and the vibrations of minerals as the earth’s supporting elements. On the eve of Día de los Muertos, deliberate disintegration is performed through dance to allow for collective mourning and remembrance. An intensive space in which tectonic rhythms become tangible and a deep, resistant pleasure in collaborating is allowed to emerge.
Precarious Pleasures
»Precarious Pleasures« is a laboratory for improvisation and queer-feminist practice. This year’s series of workshops turns to the world of minerals, bacteria, and microbes in four different workshop formats and invites participants to engage in collective fermenting. What ingredients are required for improvisation—aka voice or movement fermentation? What occurs on its own accord, and what do we add? What type of resistant power can arise when we decompose familiar orders together?
