Dance Improvisation Workshop
with Esther Adam and Katze Greeven
Part of the workshop series Precarious Pleasures
The artists Esther Adam and Katze Greeven invite the audience to a laboratory dedicated to »collective fermentation«. Together, the participants will explore which ingredients, scores, and exercises can be used so that collective fermentation can be experienced with the body and the voice. Fermentation is grasped here as a process in which a material is transformed with the help of many things (e.g., microorganisms and enzymes). While Esther and Katze will host the setting, all participants are invited to bring along their own questions.
Esther Adam (esther/she) works across various fields as an interdisciplinary artist, project coordinator and Gestalt practitioner. Esther experiments with fermentation with varying degrees of success and celebrates living organisms, spaces for serious play and collective attempts.
Katze Greeven (all pronouns) is an experimental dancer, artist and choreographer. Katze breaks down established forms and playfully reassembles them through the body. The spaces Katze creates through dance invite curious exploration and the courage to embrace uncertainty.

Precarious Pleasures
»Precarious Pleasures« is a laboratory for improvisation and queer-feminist practice. This year’s series of workshops turns to the world of minerals, bacteria, and microbes in four different workshop formats and invites participants to engage in collective fermenting. What ingredients are required for improvisation—aka voice or movement fermentation? What occurs on its own accord, and what do we add? What type of resistant power can arise when we decompose familiar orders together?
