5 Years After Hanau
Program focus with concert, films and panel discussion
Curated by Ceren Türkmen
Hanau stands for a turning point that will not go away. For an experience that has deeply inscribed itself in the political present: the fact that right-wing terror does not arise at the margins but in the center of society, which is increasingly getting used to authoritarian answers. Five years after Hanau, the question as to which phase of fascism »Western democracies« are currently in is no longer abstract. It is concrete and tangible, each and every day.
The program focus »5 Years After Hanau« curated by Ceren Türkmen brings together films, music and a panel discussion. It creates space for the voices of those affected by right-wing violence and names right-wing, authoritarian shifts and processes of de-democratization. At the same time, it invites us to redefine our own capacity to act under these conditions and to develop concrete strategies.
