The issue of racism is addressed

A warm summer evening at the outdoor pool: the air smells of chlorine, french fries, and sunscreen; screeching kids run through the scene, retirees sunbathe on warm stone slabs, and swimmers do their laps. Between the water slide, the sunbathing grounds, and the snack bar, society comes together here in the pool—the same scene in Leipzig or Bremen, Stuttgart or Erfurt. A good place to ask about personal stories of German-German identity. How do we talk about »East« and »West« at the poolside?

With the audiovisual performance »Nach der Bahn die Wende« STUDIO URBANISTAN ↗ invites you to the summer sociotope of the outdoor pool. Equipped with headphones, we dive deep into the social pool and explore the subtle differences. Who surfaces? Who goes under? And can you learn to swim on your own? A performance about formative origins, about boundaries in the mind and how they blur. Now you have to jump!

About the Artists

STUDIO URBANISTAN is a label dedicated to performative interventions in urban spaces. At the intersection of built realities and hidden themes, STUDIO URBANISTAN creates new spaces for experience and encounter—blurring the lines between everyday life and fiction—that subvert the rules and conventions of contested territories. Individual stories and personal voices from the urban space are an important component of the projects, which are realized in collaboration with performers and the local population.
