Open Call
for the 2nd Long Night
of Unsupported Projects

Apply now!
Your project at the second Long Night of Unsupported Projects

“Actually, you could see a 5 x 8 meter high display of a palm-lined promenade here, and here (performer struts across the stage) in the middle of the room you would see salt flats made of white to transparent fabrics with a crunching effect (imitates the sound), and here (points to the front right edge of the stage), here (raves) you could see a flamingo.”

Every few minutes, a fantastic idea fails because of a merciless application form. At the second Long Night of Unsupported Projects on Thu May 21st, we bring them back for 15 minutes! We invite artists from Bremen, Lower Saxony, and Hamburg to present their unrealized project ideas. What would we have been able to see, hear, experience, and learn if your project had been funded?

We want your snippets, your first chords, your great beginnings, and your rough cuts on our stage! Apply now for the second Long Night of Unsupported Projects and give your idea at least 15 minutes of the attention it deserves. A microphone, PA system, fog machine, lighting, projector, a maximum of 15 minutes, and €300 in expenses are available for the presentation. We also offer basic catering and a dress rehearsal the day before the presentation.

Apply now!

Send your application by March 16 via email to hylla@schwankhalle.de with the following information:

• Title of your project
• Project description (max. 1000 characters)
• Genre details
• A list of items on stage
• Contact details

Important: The Long Night of Unsupported projects is not intended for performing complete scenes from finished plays, elaborately rehearsed sequences with complex lighting effects, or similar. The beauty here lies in the unfinished—so have the courage to leave gaps!

The open call is aimed at artists from Bremen, Hamburg, and Lower Saxony. Eight projects will be selected at random from all submissions. Travel and accommodation costs cannot be covered. The selected artists will receive feedback by the end of March at the latest. We will then contact you to discuss the details of the event.

The second Long Night of Unsupported Projects will take place on Thu MAy 21st in the Schwankhalle. The event is embedded in WHATNOW?! – the supporting program of the Performing Arts Festival OUTNOW! ↗
