A Theater Project by the Schwankhalle
##Whose story do you miss?
Maybe it’s the story of your grandmother, who was persecuted, had to flee, and whom hardly anyone remembers anymore. Maybe it’s someone whose biography is preserved in an archive, but whom no one lends a voice anymore. Or perhaps it is someone whose story you simply do not want to see lost.
«Der Wald verspricht» is a theater project by the Schwankhalle seeking people who want to keep memories alive. At the center is a decision: You choose for yourself whom you would like to remember. We will accompany you with work on the text, research support, and a professional framework consisting of direction, dramaturgy, composition, set design, and the expert knowledge of a historian. The result will be an installation performance created together with many others, which will premiere in June 2027.
We are looking for:
People with or without stage experience from Bremen and its environs (minimum age: 16).
Whether you already know whose story you want to tell or whether you will discover this person during the process: both are welcome.
Are you interested?
Then come to the kick-off event at the Schwankhalle on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m., during which the artistic team will introduce themselves, give more information on the project, and answer your questions.
If you require translation services for the kick-off event and/or the rehearsals, please contact us by Monday, Sept. 21.
From October 2026 through June 2027, we will meet two or three evenings a month—individually or as an ensemble. The premiere will take place in June 2027.
Participation: free of charge.
Number of participants: max. 15 persons.
Prior knowledge is not necessary. Only curiosity.

Language
The kick-off event and the subsequent meetings will be held in spoken German. If required, we will organize translation services.
Spaces
All public areas of the Schwankhalle are at ground level and accessible without stairs.
There are three different restrooms: a barrier-free restroom that is also suitable for wheelchair users, a restroom with 3 stalls, and a restroom with urinals and one stall.
