Facade projection
They dance on walls. They are made of light. The first DIGITAL DIALOGUES were shown by the festival TANZ Bremen in 2021. Filmed short solo choreographies were projected on ten façades at different locations in Bremen, turning the inside out, large and unmissable. In addition, the projections brought together dialogues that had been created over distances of thousands of kilometres. This principle is also followed in the new edition DIGITAL DIALOGES II. Five dancers living in Bremen, this time in their teens, are working together artistically with five young members of the ANKATA dance centre in Bobo Dioulasso in Burkina Faso.
The renowned choreographer SERGE AIMÉ COULIBALY founded it in his home town in 2014 to support the local dance scene. The intercontinental collaboration is now well-rehearsed: via video conference, video chat and social media. The most interesting feature about the works is the establishment of relations, in more than one sense. The exchange becomes visible in the films projected in pairs on the walls, as two dancers relate to each other. They have created duets through digital communication. These dances reach their audience on the street.
The film- and dance-experienced team of URBANSCREEN from Bremen processes the recordings and places them on the urban walls in such a way that they seem to interact with the architecture. Also a dialogue.
