Tiina Sööt and Dorothea Zeyringer examine myths, pop culture and everyday life following events in which women show their anger. Serena Williams, who after an argument with the referee destroys her tennis racket; Martha Rosler, who in the feminist parody “Semiotics of the Kitchen” threateningly handles everyday kitchen utensils; or Carrie in the classic horror movie of the same name, whose suppressed anger ends in brutal and bloody revenge. With a wry sense of humor, the duo visualizes the enormous potential of empowerment lying in female anger – but also the (self-)destructive forces it can release. ›Angry Hour‹ brings together 28 forms of anger that build up to an unstoppable storm of outrage.
Tiina Sööt and Dorothea Zeyringer have been working together in Vienna since 2012. Their performances are located at the intersection of visual arts, dance and theatre and address socially relevant and personal issues in a poetic and humorous way. Their work has been shown at brut Wien, Tanzquartier Wien, Sophiensaele Berlin, Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava Tallinn, Schauspiel Köln, Kunstraum Niederoesterreich, and National Dance Center Bucharest, among others. In 2019 Sööt/Zeyringer were part of Freischwimmen - Platform for Performance and Theater.
