Performance / Dance
Already the mothers and fathers of the performers Nuray Demir and Minh Duc Pham removed the dirt from the powerful institutions. In the early mornings, when the theaters and museums were empty, they eliminated the urine deposits from the urinals or emptied the wastebaskets with the drafts of rejections sent to artists of color. The lives of the second generation also takes place outside the view of the dominant society and they, too, are condemned to do the dirty work.
In their production, Nuray Demir and Minh Duc Pham work hard to make the institution shine clean. The aggressive, all-purpose detergents of cultural sciences are now damaging their health. In »Semiotiken der Drecksarbeit«*, the two put in unpaid overtime to scrape away the institution’s stubborn ideological deposits.
*Semiotics understands human communication as a science, examining the signs of communication such as words, images and gestures. For some areas of life, the signs remain unexplored. This work is then taken over by performers.
