»Mein Körper gehört mir«
A Snail Pace Performance
by Mathias Becker & Simon Noa Harder
In »Freund*innen der Weichtiere – Mein Körper gehört mir« (Friends of Mollusks—My Body Belongs to Me), we accompany them on a journey through time. Supersnail makes contact with the younger self of a symbiont—the delicate hatchling it once was. Her approach is ultra-tender, because in the crusty layers of time, humiliations, transphobia and violent events have sedimented in the bodies of the symbionts. But the primordial being has preserved the collected arts of survival in the slime. Who knows more about how to assert oneself against predators, snail traps and other threats and still remain soft?
Mathias Becker and Simon Noa Harder invite the audience to a participatory space in which self-determination, relaxation and fun can grow as soft forms of resistance. The space designed by Gilda Coustier combines elements of lecture performance, object theater and participatory performance. »Freund*innen der Weichtiere« was developed from the workshop series of the same name that was held at the Schwankhalle from November 2023 to May 2024 and triggered an intergenerational exchange on the theme of »My Body Belongs to Me.«
