Sun-spotted euphoria in the gloomy Norwegian underworld: The highly acclaimed Erlend Apneseth Trio has succeeded in rejuvenating a traditional sound in a thrilling and astounding way. Hardanger, the music from the Norwegian region of the same name, is catapulted to the present with drums, guitar, fiddle, and experimental sounds. The trio lets echoes of early music reverberate in post-rock and Norwegian electronica. They have released three albums to date and were winners of the Norwegian Grammy for folk music.
10 p.m.
Stephan Meidell, guitarist of Erlend Apneseth Trio, shows his solo album ›Metrics‹, where Techno meets baroque – an immersive sonic journey incorporating electronic beats, treated tape and synthesizer with a re-edited live ensemble including Hardanger fiddle, baroque violin, prepared piano, harpsichord and clarinet. Its restless rhythmic patterning of sound on sound keeps you constantly on the move and is peculiarly suitable for dance, travelling from one imagined place or space to another.
