The independent performing arts were and are still particularly affected by crisis situations. To support artists in this field, the Fonds Darstellende Künste, between May and August 2022, initiated and supported around 25 labs ranging from figure and object theater to music theater, from dance via performance and acting to theater in public space and contemporary circus. The film documents the artistic work and research of these (also digital) labs across Germany in times of social transformation. On the large screen, the positions of Danny Banany, Mable Preach, Mieke Matzke, Simone Dede Ayivi, Stefan Kaegi, Susanne Schuster, and others are shown, with numerous curators and artistic directors of various production venues sharing their thoughts. »Dennoch! – Zur Lage der freien Künste« features the polyphony of aesthetics, practices and locations, bringing them together to form a strong, joint statement for art.
