Workshop with Britt Hatzius
Together with you, the artist Britt Hatzius ↗ would like to explore movement and body from the inside. Based on her exchange with the blind ballet dancer Krishna Washburn, who has developed a special form of self-audio-description in her online dancing classes, the workshop deals with kinetic explorations without role models and images. In the descriptions of one’s own bodily sensations and movements, any kind of visual understanding of dance is left aside in order to pursue one’s very own forms of expression. Language, voice, sound, and movement playfully become instructions that can be recreated and reinterpreted by other bodies.
Seeing and non-seeing persons of all ages, with or without experience in dance and movement, disabilities or other impairments are invited to participate in this discovery process. During the course of the two-day workshop, we will delve into our own personal bodily experiences, look for ways to express them, and learn to articulate them so that we can share them with the group.
Britt Hatzius (DE) works in film, video, sound and performance. Krishna Washburn (USA) met her while working with Vision Inclusive, a non-profit organization that promotes collaboration between people with and without impairments.
