›Tropism‹ describes a ›movement of parts of plants or stationary animals toward or away from external stimuli‹. Alongside chemo-, photo- and geotropism, The KutiMangoes place Afrotropism: Inspired by the West African Bambara tradition and the groove of Mali blues, the musicians create a jazz-based, globally connected music that marks a further development of the band's full, almost orchestral horn sounds. During their live concerts, this leads to wild dancing by the audience, intermittently calmed down by songs resembling paintings, with wonderful melodies, filigree percussion and almost whispered saxophone passages.
