The Swiss saxophone reformer Antoine Chessex and the French tape virtuoso Jérôme Noetinger are innovators of the experimental scene: condensed electro-acoustics, provocative dynamics, astounding details, sound architectures. A dancing and plunging of frequencies following the vibe of Musique Concrète and the real-time scene.
Their concert is a poetic and clamoring echo of the legendry ›Machine Gun‹ concert that Peter Brötzmann played at the Lila Eule in Bremen in 1968. As already with Brötzmann’s music, Antoine Chessex’ compositions and improvisations and Jérôme Noetinger’s bizarre sounds are a musical response to the prevailing conditions. A churning ocean, for example, is still an artistic inspiration today, but so is a human disaster. In the Schwankhalle, Chessex and Noetinger perform solo sets and as a duo.
Jérôme Noetinger: Revox Tape Machine
Antoine Chessex: Saxophon
