In 1877, Thomas Edison presented his phonograph that was capable of preserving existing sounds. It marked the birth of field recording and the beginning of a new art form. The Festival Congress on contemporary and historical trends in field recording is dedicated to the peculiarities of aesthetic and aestheticized field studies. It will present films, installations, performative works, multichannel tape pieces, and lectures on the question of authenticity, the sound of the afterlife, or listening with the ears of an insect.
