The Bremen-based filmmaker Jan van Hasselt traveled to Rio de Janeiro several times to shoot a documentary on the construction of a steel plant, without success. Instead, he wound up in the middle of the protest movement against the mania for building, the vacated favelas, and the military siege of Rio.
Between the World Cup and the Olympics, the disputes turn into a battle for images and for who is allowed to film what. The image battle is continued on the stage between texts, video snippets and live sound by Marc Richter. En passant, ›Globo‹ also reflects on the media mechanisms of producing truth
It is possible and highly recommended to also visit the thematically related performance of ›Mining Stories‹ on 11/8 at 7:30 p.m.
